Degenerative Disc Disease

Degenerative disc disease is a common spinal condition that is caused by the natural wear and tear of the spinal discs. It can also be caused from minor injuries or when physical stressors weaken your spinal disc. This can affect your quality of life and ability to perform certain activities. Chiropractic care can relieve spinal pain, release tension, and improve the flexibility of the spine, making it a top choice among patients with DDD.

The goal of chiropractic care for degenerative disc disease is to improve joint mechanics by improving spinal motion and reducing inflammation with spinal manipulation. For patients with degenerative disc disease as well as patients who may have herniated discs or spinal stenosis, we may use a technique known as flexion-distraction technique. This helps relieve pressure on the spinal discs, nerves, and other spinal structures. This not only helps relieve discomfort but allows water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids to flow into the discs more easily, which promotes healing.
